Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), also known as artificial rubber or synthetic rubber. Its products not only have the excellent properties of high elasticity, aging resistance and oil resistance of traditional cross-linked vulcanized rubber, but also have the characteristics of convenient processing and wide processing methods of ordinary plastics

TPE is mainly composed of two parts: plastic as continuous phase and rubber as dispersed phase. Usually, rubber needs to be matched with softening oil or plasticizer. Vulcanizing agent and some auxiliary additives are also essential. In addition, some inorganic fillers will also be added in order to reduce costs or improve some aspects of performance. According to the material composition, it can be divided into: styrene (SBS, SIS, SEBS, SEPs), olefins (tp0, TPV), dienes (TPB, TPI), vinyl chloride (tpvc, tcpe), urethanes (TPU), esters (TPEE), amides (tpae), organofluorine (TPF), organosilicon, ethylene, etc., covering almost all fields of synthetic rubber and synthetic resin. The wire surface is not smooth

TPE wire processing often occurs, which is generally caused by poor temperature adjustment and uneven mixing of flame retardants, or by incorrect mold selection. Of course, it also has a lot to do with the material formula. Experienced manufacturers will eliminate the problem of equipment and can find the right temperature after repeated debugging, but engineers should be careful about choosing the right materials and specific formulas. It is recommended to communicate more with raw material suppliers to know the physical properties of materials and processing precautions. Choosing the right materials will get twice the result with half the effort! The surface processing of TPU wire is better than that of TPE wire.

Wire surface precipitation

So far, no material from any company can guarantee no precipitation at all. The specific precipitation is shown as: the surface is white, oily or foggy. With current technology, this problem has not been solved. It is suggested that customers should choose materials with slightly white surface when selecting, and this precipitation will not affect its physical and electrical properties. Do not use materials with oil on the surface. It is easy to fall off and peel in use. In addition, the precipitation can also be divided into light and heavy. The precipitation of good materials is slight, and it is not easy to happen in the short term. Even if it happens, just wipe it gently with your hand.

Surface whitening and peeling off glue

Whitening is caused by the addition of PP and PE in the material, which can be improved. Some manufacturers have achieved that their products will not be covered in vain, but TPE is more difficult than TPU. If the skin and glue fall off, the level is very general. What I want to say here is still the formula! workmanship

Processing difficulty

The processing speed of elastomer is relatively slow, about 50% slower than that of PVC. The temperature is not easy to adjust, and a lot of materials are wasted when adjusting the machine. In addition, the machine needs to be washed before making materials, so the waste is not small. These are inevitable. Sometimes in production, things happen that everything is normal in the early stage of production and there are problems in the later stage of processing. It needs to be explained that the sub brand material has risks and should be used with caution.

Flame retardant tpe/tpu is a very unique material. The problem of flame retardant tpe/tpu still needs more work in material selection, formula and process. In general, it is recommended to choose liquid flame retardants, reduce the hardness and improve the flame retardancy at the same time, reduce the amount of powder flame retardants, which can improve the transparency of products, use compatibilizers to improve the compatibility between flame retardants and substrates, improve precipitation and greatly improve mechanical properties; In the process, special screw distribution is adopted to improve the dispersion of flame retardant in the system, improve the flame retardant efficiency and improve the appearance; The new silicone flame retardant is adopted, and the condensed phase flame retardant mechanism forms a cracking carbon layer with strong oxidation resistance, so as to improve the flame retardant efficiency.
