Polycarbonate (PC), mainly referring to bisphenol A polycarbonate, is a kind of strong and tough thermoplastic plastic, an almost colorless amorphous polymer in the glass state, and has good optical properties.
Extruded plastic lighting lenses are produced in clear and diffused options and are simple to install to the bottom or side of a light fixture. Lighting extrusions offer advantageous light spreading and scattering benefits, shield lighting fixtures from dust, and contribute to energy conservation by delivering more even lighting that eliminates the need for additional fixtures.
Of course, the role of oxygen in the processing and use environment is also a significant negative factor that cannot be ignored when it comes to the aging of PCs, whether thermal oxygen aging or photo oxygen aging. PC materials will also turn yellow as a result of water, additives, and other factors. Therefore, we should carefully consider the process and formula in the actual production and application. This does not imply that adding a small amount of UV absorber is acceptable.
We have done a great deal of research and conducted a great deal of comparative verification tests with customers to address the anti-aging of PC materials, particularly the improvement of its UV resistance or weather resistance.
Finally, we got good results and made a weathering masterbatch for PC materials called LS-141. Customers have given this product high marks for its ability to withstand the elements.
