ABS and PVC pipes offer different advantages
There are many reasons for using plastic pipes. Plastic pipe is cheap, light and will never corrode. They are very good at keeping the temperature of hot water and do not collect condensate from cold water like many metal pipes. But not all plastic pipes are the same. There are some obvious differences between the two most common plastic pipe materials (ABS and PVC).

ABS pipe vs. PVC pipe
Many of the main differences between acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are either secondary or depending on the situation, but for many homeowners, one difference may be prominent: ABS pipes are made of BPA, while PVC pipes are not.
BPA or bisphenol A is a chemical commonly used to harden plastics. It exists in a variety of plastic materials, including containers for food and water. Although there is no evidence that BPA poses a risk to humans, animal studies have shown that there is increasing concern about possible hormonal, neurological and cardiac effects and other potential problems.
Before you think too much about making a decision between ABS and PVC plastic pipes, you should know that your local government may have made a decision for you. Some local building codes require the use of one pipe instead of another in drainage, sewage or other pipeline works, although many people leave the option to plumbers and builders.
Advantages and disadvantages of plastic pipe
A simple way to distinguish ABS and PVC is that ABS pipe is black and PVC pipe is white, but in fact, the color can be adjusted with toner. Most of them refer to Pantone color card or Raul color card number. For example, PVC is softer, but ABS is stronger and more impact resistant. ABS is better at handling cold temperatures, but it will deform due to exposure to direct sunlight. It is believed that PVC can better eliminate the sound of running water. In the Chinese market, the two types of pricing are similar. If a large price difference is found, it is usually due to the high transportation cost of one type.
ABS or PVC pipes shall be used
When using these materials, the biggest difference is that ABS pipe has one-step process for connecting pipes, while PVC process has two steps. ABS pipes can be bonded immediately with a special piece of cement, but the PVC pipe end must be treated with purple primer before cement can be used. The primer is dirty and must be completely dry before proceeding to the next step, so it will add additional labor to the project. For this reason, ABS is sometimes the most cost-effective option even if the pipe itself is more expensive than PVC.
