Polycarbonate Application

Polycarbonate (PC for short) is a high molecular polymer containing carbonate group in the molecular chain. According to the structure of ester group, it can be divided into aliphatic, aromatic, aliphatic aromatic and other types.

Only aromatic polycarbonate has been industrialized. Due to the particularity of polycarbonate structure, it has become the general engineering plastic with the fastest growth rate among the five engineering plastics.

1.Development industry

The three application fields of PC engineering plastics are glass assembly industry, automobile industry, electronics and electrical industry, followed by industrial machinery parts, optical disk, packaging, computer and other office equipment, medical and health care, film, leisure and protective equipment. PC can be used as door and window glass. PC laminates are widely used as protective windows in banks, embassies, detention centers and public places, as well as aircraft canopy, lighting equipment, industrial safety baffle and bulletproof glass.

The application and development of polycarbonate is developing in the direction of high compounding, high function, specialization and serialization. 2.Building materials industry

Polycarbonate plate has good light transmittance, impact resistance, ultraviolet radiation resistance, dimensional stability of its products and good molding and processing performance, which makes it have obvious technical performance advantages over inorganic glass traditionally used in the construction industry. China has more than 20 polycarbonate building materials hollow plate production lines, with an annual demand of about 70000 tons of polycarbonate, reaching 140000 tons by 2005.

4.Medical apparatus and instruments

Because polycarbonate products can withstand steam, detergent, heating and large dose radiation disinfection without yellowing and physical performance degradation, they are widely used in artificial kidney hemodialysis equipment and other medical equipment that need to be operated under transparent and intuitive conditions and need to be disinfected repeatedly. Such as the production of high-pressure syringes, surgical masks, disposable dental appliances, blood separators, etc.

5.Electronics industry

Because polycarbonate has good and constant electrical insulation in a wide range of temperature and humidity, it is an excellent insulating material. At the same time, its good flame resistance and dimensional stability make it a broad application field in the electronic and electrical industry.

Polycarbonate resin is mainly used to produce all kinds of food processing machinery, electric tool shell, body, bracket, refrigerator freezer drawer and vacuum cleaner parts. In addition, polycarbonate materials also show high use value for important parts in computers, video recorders and color TV sets with high precision requirements.
