Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is an initiator of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in peroxides, azo compounds, etc. Or a polymer polymerized under the action of light and heat based on the mechanism of free radical polymerization. Vinyl chloride homopolymer and copolymer are collectively referred to as vinyl chloride resin, and their materials are amorphous materials.

The differences between PVC injection molding and PVC extrusion materials are as follows:
Firstly, the types of raw materials used for granulation are different, and the formulas naturally vary. There are specialized models for injection molding and extrusion materials.
Secondly, the production processes of the products are different. Injection molding is the process of injecting raw materials into a mold and cooling them to form a product. The production process is independent and indirect, that is, after each injection is completed, the next one is turned on. Therefore, plastic injection requires good fluidity, so that the injected product has no flow lines and a bright surface. Extrusion refers to the direct extrusion of raw materials from molds, and the production process is continuous. So there is no requirement for the flowability of the extruded material, as long as the surface is fine and free of particles.
PVC flame retardant particle manufacturers introduce that injection molding and extrusion materials are generally not suitable for mutual sharing, and extrusion materials are not suitable for injection molding. Although injection molding materials can be used for extrusion, they have an impact on quality, and we do not recommend their use to customers.
The main differences are:
1) Differences in liquidity
Injection molding requires high fluidity, especially for thin-walled and large products. The requirements for extrusion are more relaxed because extrusion is open and there is no significant resistance from the mold’s reverse direction.
2) Melt strength
Injection molding is formed in a mold, with geometric limitations imposed by the mold, and low requirements for melt strength. Although extrusion molding also has geometric limitations of the die, it is not fully cured after being exported to the die. In this free state, sometimes it cannot be formed well due to low melt strength, such as spinning. In addition, extrusion is often accompanied by subsequent free state processing and molding, such as hot forming and hollow blow molding, during which there is often varying degrees of melt stretching. If the melt strength is low, it is easy to break. Therefore, injection molding generally does not require high melt strength, while extrusion is generally required.
3) Outlet expansion
Injection molding generally does not have strict requirements for export expansion. The expansion of the extruded outlet is very annoying. So, the viscoelastic control of injection molding and extrusion materials will also be different.
There are other differences between injection molding and extrusion raw materials, which will not be listed one by one. The main sources of their differences are high confinement molding and semi confinement molding.
